Welcome to the latest edition of "Making A Difference"! As usual, I've tried to make sure that this issue has some really great free stuff for you as well as super opportunities on your personal-growth and home business tools. I hope you enjoy it!

One of the greatest benefits of the Internet and World Wide Web is the opportunity they provide us with to get the help we need and to meet some new friends in the process. In this issue, I'd like to tell you about a recent experience I've had in uncovering another of what I like to term "Internet Jewels" that demonstrates this concept in "real life" terms.

If you've been on my mailing list for a while, you know that I work very hard to make sure that I give out the best information I can about how to create an Internet business that you can be proud of and that I only recommend the products and services that I have personal experience with and believe are great values for the money. Maintaining my credibility with you is very important to me, so I'm not about to try "pushing" a product or service just to make a quick buck. I'm in this for the long-haul and one of my primary goals has always been to build a successful Internet-based business while helping others to do the same. Besides that, it just doesn't make good business sense to sell something that your customers or clients are not going to be happy with.

Anyway, let me begin my story by saying that I've been rather frustrated lately because I have invested a lot of time and money trying to build an Internet business that will really help people to create their dream life and, quite frankly, the results that I've been getting recently have been rather disappointing.

So, I was looking for some guidance recently when I heard about a new "mentoring" service that Harmony Major started called "Blown Cover Marketing". I knew of Harmony from previous articles of hers that I had read and could tell that she was an honest business person who had a reputation for "telling it to you straight". In other words, she was someone that I felt I could trust, but had never met, talked to, or even exchanged email with before. Anyway, I decided to give her new coaching service a try.

After I signed up for her service, I quickly submitted a request for help in the area of list building. I have to tell you that I was extremely surprised and impressed when she replied to my request that very same day. Over the next 2 weeks, we exchanged information pretty much every day, with her probing me for information on what I had been doing to build my list, requesting information about my various websites, asking for examples of my newsletters and so forth. With each interaction, I became more and more impressed with the degree of interest that she took in what I was doing, with the speed in which she responded and with the advice that she was providing.

To make a long story short, she quickly proved to me that she was very interested in helping me, not in trying to push some "canned" solution that she had developed. This kind of personal interaction and assistance is what the Web is supposed to be all about. Good people sharing their experience and expertise so that everyone benefits.

Harmony has given me some excellent guidance and I'm in the process of implementing a number of her suggestions. I think that, when all is said and done, I will be very pleased with the results I achieve. In the meantime, I just had to tell you about the wonderful experience that I've had working with her. I had tried once before to get coaching help from one of the so-called Internet "Gurus" only to be quite disappointed in the response. The service Harmony provides is so personalized that I feel as though we have been friends for years. I think that this is a shining example of the opportunity that the Internet and World Wide Web give us for meeting new people, getting the help we need and working together in a way that is a "win-win" experience for all concerned.

In Harmony's case, she received a new satisfied customer. I received the kind of personalized and specific help that I was seeking and, because of that, here I am writing to tell you that I think her service is terrific (so she gets another benefit that she was not expecting ). In my eyes, that's one of the real benefits of the Internet and Web and that makes Harmony, in my book, one of the true "Internet Jewels" that are just waiting to be discovered by each of us.

The Second Key to Keeping Customers Happy

The new business model demands integrity if you want to be truly successful. Your goal is to develop a virtual community of people who enjoy doing business with you. In order to accomplish that, you have to conduct your business with the utmost integrity. If you’re not willing to do what it takes to satisfy your customers, then you will not stay in business very long. I know that it’s impossible to satisfy some people. But those kinds of people are in the minority and you don’t want them in your virtual community anyway. You want to build a community of loyal customers whom you can also consider friends.

If you want to see a great example of someone who has done this in his business, take a quick look at Key Evoy’s web presence. Everything that Ken does is with the utmost integrity. The products he offers are superior in every way and he and his staff do everything possible to ensure that every customer is thrilled with their purchase. If there’s a better model to use for demonstrating how to run an operation with integrity, I’d like someone to point it out to me.

In addition to the fact that every one of Ken’s products are superior in every way, he has the best affiliate program on the web, in my opinion. He does everything possible to help his affiliates be successful. If you’re interested in aligning yourself with someone who absolutely “oozes” honesty and integrity, join Ken. You won’t find anyone better. However, I will say that I am working very hard to reach the same plateau with my business and affiliate program. So, keep an eye on my efforts, too. Operating with integrity does not require that you be perfect. It simply requires that you do the best you can at all times and, when you make a mistake that adversely affects others, admit it and do what you can to set things “right”. Customers, and friends, want you to be straight with them (remember what I said about Harmony Major in my "Notes From The Editor" piece above?). They want to be able to trust you. There is a well-known investment company that uses the advertising slogan “We want your business. We’ll earn your trust”. This is a slogan that all businesses would be wise to adopt if they want to prosper in the age of the Internet and World Wide Web. The days of the business con-artist are rapidly coming to an end. In order to survive in the future, business must be conducted with integrity.

Just to give you an example of some of the things that I’ve done to try to make it up to my customers when I felt that I didn’t live up to the standard of service I expect of myself, here’s a true story of one of my personal efforts to “try to make things right”:

I sent an additional free music CD to a customer who had ordered one of the Mystic Warriors’ CDs that I offer on my conjar.com web site because I didn’t get around to shipping her order until 4 days after she had placed it on-line. I had a legitimate reason to be late. It wasn’t like I was just ignoring the order. What happened was that I was out of town for the week that the order came in and I wasn’t able to get home to package and ship the item until the weekend.

That’s one of the reasons that I prefer to sell electronic goods that can be downloaded by the customer immediately such as e-books, recorded audio products and software programs. With those types of products, there’s no worry about shipping goods on time the way there is with “hard” goods. However, I really like the music by Mystic Warriors. They’re a local group that I have had the pleasure of seeing perform live numerous times and I know them personally. So, I make an exception in their case. I enjoy giving other people the opportunity to hear their unique brand of music. But, the point is, the customer had the right to expect shipment in a more prompt manner. Therefore, I felt that I wanted to do something to make it up to her. So, I sent her an extra CD free of charge.

The end result was that the customer was thrilled to receive the freebie. She hadn’t even complained about the late delivery and was very pleasantly surprised to receive the extra CD. She promptly sent me an email thanking me and saying that it wasn’t really necessary, but since she really enjoyed the second CD, she wasn’t giving it back . Although she never said anything about referring extra business my way, I found it rather curious that I received two more orders for Mystic Warriors CDs within the next week. Since I don’t really make any special effort to market them, I have a sneaky suspicion that she may have told some of her friends about the experience.

So how is a mindset created? What makes you have a mindset that has you expecting breathtaking success every time you attempt something? Well, a number of things come to mind.

The question people often ask me is - when their self-development work and personal growth finally "takes," is this when will they stop having negative thoughts - I wish I knew. Although I'm afraid the answer could be never.

I play CDs with positive subliminal messages while I sleep each night. I start each day by reading something positive, and end each night the same way. I have many positive, success-oriented people in my life. I feast regularly on positive books, tapes and other programs. But I have an embarrassing confession to make . . .

I've had lots of negative thoughts. Sometimes ten a day. As rich, successful, healthy and happy as I've become, I have often still had fear-based thoughts. Looking back now, I see a lot of things I did, thinking they were prosperous, but I see now they were fear-based.

When I bought a bike, I bought a titanium professional race bike for $3,000. I remember thinking then that if things got bad, I could always sell it for some quick cash.

Well I bought three Vipers at the same time, I felt secure, knowing I could always sell one or two and scrape together a hundred grand.

Coming from the place I did, I always felt like I was somehow cheating destiny. That God, or the universe, or someone was going to wake up one day and discover that I had acquired wealth by mistake. I still had that niggling thought in the back of my mind-the defensive, better-prepare-for-the-really-bad-scenario, and have my options covered-just in case. And not get my hopes up too high-because then I was setting myself up for a great disappointment.

And like I told you, I've had those kinds of thoughts recently, as many as ten a day. But here's the difference . . .

I notice every one of them now. Immediately. And I often laugh about how silly they are. Best of all, I see the progression of my mindset.

First, I had hundreds of negative thoughts a day, and noticed none of them.

Then I graduated to the point that I had lots of negative thoughts a day and noticed some of them.

From there I got to the point that I had less negative thoughts a day and I noticed a lot of them.

And gradually over time, I started having less and less of them. Some days I have none. And now when I do have them, I catch myself right away.

I used to wear a rubber band on my wrist, and snap it when I had a lack thought. Now I no longer need to do that. I just tap my fingers on my forehead. That's the signal to my mind, and I instantly reject that thought, and replace it with another one. And once that happens. The world changes.

So when do the negative thoughts end? I doubt they ever do. The sheer enormity of how much negative and lack programming you will be assaulted with over the course of a lifetime makes that seem unlikely. (But let's not affirm that.)

In any event, if you keep counter-programming-you will win the fight. Because once you control the programming-you control the mindset. And once you control the mindset-you control your destiny!

Start a life journal and track your negative lack and limitation thoughts and tally them. At the end of each day, spend some time thinking about this subject.

When you really analyze the day and think about this regularly-you will start to notice these thoughts. And once you do that, they lose most of their power.

And your mindset starts to change . . .

You change your core fundamental beliefs. You believe you are supposed to be healthy, happy and prosperous. You believe you are worthy. And when you are confronted with dozens of situations each day, most minor, some bigger, and even some that are major-you expect good things to happen to you!

And because you expect good things to happen to you-you approach life differently. You approach it expecting to end up on top. And because you believe it-that's exactly what happens! Ain't it great?
